Details

Orchid is the first full length from Ishq and has all the qualities of a landmark ambient album. The first time Interchill heard the track Bhakti they immediately offered Matt Hillier an album deal for Ishq. Since then, they have received very positive feedback from all around the globe about the tracks Bhakti and Sol, which were included on the recent compilations "Infinenssence" and "Floatation". Mixmaster Morris refers to Ishq as a genius, and Interchill have already licensed "Orchid" to Tokyo based Dakini Records for release in Asia. Make yourself comfortable and enjoy the journey. From Cornwall, originally inspired by the UK festival scene, The Tibetanian Lodge and the music of Ozric Tentacles, Hawkwind, Steve Hillage, James Turell, and the like, Matt Hillier is yet another musician who traded in his guitar for synths in 1991. Writing music under various aliases since then, such as Indigo Egg, Cyan Dragonfly, Sihq, Is-va-ra and Izim Izam, he set out to create forms of music that induce higher altered states of inner consciousness. Destinctively, Hillier's compositions are influenced by Raja Yoga, Sufism, Buddhism, and spiritually likeminded artists, but most of all, in his own words, "it's great unknown". Hillier is currently working on a follow up Ishq album and new solo material
