KIWA is the creation of Markku Louhio and Matti Elsinen.
Conceived in 1996 and cultivated somewhere in the
Finnish suburbs and forests, KIWA is the ultimate labour
of love for these two talented producers. KIWA started
out as a pure Goa-trance project but their musical
horizons were soon to expand. After their first live-show
on New Year's Eve 1996, Markku and Matti started
challenging themselves by incorporating breakbeats,
atmospheric soundscapes and their trademark basslines
to their already promising output.
One of the mainstays of the Finnish Psy-scene, KIWA has
played a huge number of shows with both the
well-established domestic (TEXAS FAGGOTT,
SQUAREMEAT) as well as the internationally acclaimed
(KOXBOX, LUMUKANDA, AB, GUS TILL). For two years
in a row, they have been booked on the bill of Scandinavia's
first all-electronic art & music festival, Koneisto, both times
playing to a packed and enthusiastic crowd. KIWA also
appeared at the prestigious Samothraki 2003 festival in
Greece with a host of great artists like EAT STATIC,
SIMON POSFORD, SAIKO POD, RAJA RAM and the like.
Not afraid to take their music to new crowds, KIWA was
on the 2001 bill for the biggest rockfestival in Finland,
Provinssirock.
